It was November 2020, the whole world seemed to be upside down; Covid was raging, the 2020 election drama was boiling, people were wearing hazmat suits, New York City was a ghost town and every day all the news stations had a new grim update to report, the future seemed to be very uncertain up until we met.

Our first date was at a small jazz restaurant in South Brooklyn, it was during that short two-week window where New York City allowed restaurants to have indoor dining. We spoke about books, mainly about one of our favorite books "The Old Man and the Sea," traveling, where we were from, and history.

Winter came quickly that year, turning New York City into a winter wonderland. At this point everything was once again completely closed due to Covid, we didn’t mind it, we enjoyed our “eighteenth-century dates,” where the only thing we could do was go for long walks and have long conversations. We loved walking around Central Park, especially a snow-covered Central Park. After our third date, we decided to spend New Year together, and we have been inseparable ever since.

We have had countless adventures together. We have traveled all over the U.S., Europe, and other places. Olesya took Sean-Michael ice skating for the first time that New Year's weekend, we both learned how to snowboard together and Sean-Michael took Olesya for her first half-marathon.

The big question took place on September 4, 2022, at the Fairmont Château Frontenac in Quebec City, Canada; Olesya had no clue that we were taking a trip to Quebec City. It was a weekend full of surprises. Safe to say the trip was a great success.

To make a long story short, before we met the future was a very uncertain place but after we met we both knew where our future was headed…together.
